Ha! Yes, and he signed it "Daddy," (Papa)." Odds are high that Adam Matynka called his own father "Tatusz" or "Tato." A wrenching thing it is to change countries, change your language, and as a result change the terms of affection on which the child addresses the father.
"Daddy" is so American, as is 'Papa." I am guessing they were happy and proud about that, while all the time translating in their heads - and hearts - to the Polish equivalent.
